LED Headlamp Combo![]() Click photo to buy from Altrec (about $30) |
I love this light... and now Jeannie has one also. I've used this while kayaking at midnight, tromping through a dry creekbed in the dark, looking for retro-reflective eyeballs in the forest, scouting for firewood, and working around the campsite... and all on the original set of three AAA batteries! This headlamp is very well made, waterproof, pivots vertically, and even has some additional operating modes that I rarely use (two lower brightness levels and two blink rates for beaconing). It comes with a bright key-ring "squeeze" light that's always handy, and you have a choice of 3 case colors. There are a lot of different headlamps out there, and the trade-offs include brightness, battery life, cost, and weight. This one, at 2.8 oz, is light enough to always have with you (it lives in my backpack and moves to my navigation case when I'm kayaking), yet is cheap ($30), bright (18.1 foot-candles), and easy on batteries (17-160 hours depending on mode). It's comfy too. You can also find a great selection of related products at the REI Headlamps & Lighting |
