Edward Roberts block-printed Christmas cards 1930s
My father was a DIY’er all the way, even back in his college days. In his old shop I found the wood-carving tools and blocks that he used to create these Christmas greetings in 1933 and 1934. The first celebrated his love for his first car, a 1910 Hupmobile:
And the second carries images from his time at Swarthmore College, heading up the cheer leading squad:
Among his various claims to fame were the lever-release aluminum ice-cube tray and a life of Star sailing before I came along. He also took tons of 8mm movies, which I am currently digitizing, and was the director of the Louisville Regional Science Fair for many years. Here are two more:
